It’s amazing to look back and see God’s hand in the writing of my personal story. He has opened doors and led the way throughout my life. I spent 30 years in the corporate world, specializing in sales, marketing and product development. I loved my “job”, loved the team I was privileged to work with and the culture we created. Then, as the business world does, things changed in upper management, dramatically; paradigms shifted and I found myself no longer aligned with their methods and goals. What happened next was not part of my plan, not even a whisper inside my heart and mind. God had a new path for me, and through the pain and uncertainty of walking away from a successful career, He gently led the way into an unexpected adventure.
Over the last 13 plus years, I’ve been privileged to help form and run a not-for-profit organization that’s working to rescue children from the grip of generational poverty. We’ve partnered with a local Kenyan Pastor and his wife, who saw a need in their own town and began making a difference. Our goal; rescue a generation of children, one at a time. We’re helping meet their basic needs, provide an education as well as mental and spiritual healing. Now, with almost 200 kids and 100 young adults in college , our prayer is, they will become a force for change within their own communities. Through much prayer, perseverance and faith in our God, we’re seeing lives redeemed and changed.
Beth approached me about this idea for the “Time•Piece” - a gospel “tract” that would be so well done people wouldn’t discard it, but want to read it, I was intrigued. Could we put together something that would help people start those “not-so-easily started” conversations? Could we create a tool that opens doors to meaningful discussions about our world view and where we’ll spend eternity with those we love? The Time•Piece has been a labor of love and obedience; both challenging and rewarding. I’m thankful to have had a part in its development and distribution.
